HEALTHLINK EXPANDS WAREHOUSES IN MEMPHIS (USA) AND WAALWIJK (THE NETHERLANDS)
HealthLink Europe & International, part of the Base Logistics Group, will significantly increase its warehouse capacity in Memphis and Waalwijk. HealthLink is moving its current warehousing activities in Memphis to a warehouse of 110,000 square feet and in Waalwijk to a warehouse of 170,000 square feet. The move of both warehouses is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2019.
The new Memphis facility is located less than 7 miles away from the FedEx SuperHub. Building on proximity to FedEx Corp. and Memphis’ emerging biosciences hub, HealthLink Europe & International made Memphis its latest flagstaff operation.
Rick Hughes, Managing Director of HealthLink International: “As specialists in medical device logistics and order-to-cash services, we are investing in our customers’ growth by building a new temperature controlled medical grade GDP facility in Waalwijk the Netherlands and opening our temperature controlled FDA registered facility in Memphis, Tennessee.” The space at 4049 Willow Lake is tightly regulated to ensure that devices are packaged and processed safely. Hughes claims that proximity to FedEx was the deciding factor in the decision to base HealthLink’s North American operations in Memphis. HealthLink works under time-sensitive windows. “Being so close to FedEx is huge for us,” Hughes said. “We are able to reach both coastlines overnight for next-day deliveries with excellent freight rates.”
The new Waalwijk facility will replicate all warehouse activities that are now taking place in the current HealthLink warehouses in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Rosmalen (the Netherlands). The back-office, order to cash and customer service activities of HealthLink that now take place in ‘s-Hertogenbosch will remain in the current location.
Joost van den Heuvel, Managing Director of HealthLink Europe, said: “We have clients in the medical industry, who place high demands on the quality of our services. Thanks to this new warehouse, we can expand the services to our customers and take them to an even higher level.” The new temperature controlled warehouse in Waalwijk has a temperature range between 59 and 77° F and it also contains a large space with a temperature between 35 and 46° F. The building fully complies with the strict GDP and GMP standards. Van den Heuvel continues: “We will be offering services there such as cleaning and disinfecting of instrument sets.”
With HealthLink, clients can expand under the same global IT platform and Quality System, which enables a seamless, cost effective and sustainable transition. Globally, HealthLink has 120 employees and works with over 150 medical device customers.
